Densho

Densho is a digital archive dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Japanese Americans during World War II. The name "Densho" is derived from the Japanese word for "encounter," reflecting the project's focus on the experiences of Japanese Americans during this period. The archive was created by the University of California, Berkeley, in collaboration with the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) and the Densho Digital Repository.

The Densho Digital Repository houses a vast collection of primary source materials, including personal narratives, photographs, letters, and government documents. These materials provide a comprehensive view of the lives of Japanese Americans during the war, including their internment, resettlement, and contributions to the war effort.
