DR1

DR1, in molecular biology, refers to the down-regulator of transcription 1, a transcription factor involved in regulating transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II. It is known to form regulatory complexes that modulate promoter activity and can repress transcription under certain conditions.

In many studies, DR1 associates with partner proteins such as DR2 and DRAP1 (DR1-associated protein 1). The DR1-containing complexes bind promoter DNA and influence transcriptional initiation, with activity varying by cell type and signaling state. The biological role is explored in development and disease, including cancer.

Outside biology, the DR1 designation is used as a model number or acronym in other fields, including technology and media products. These uses are unrelated to the transcription factor and depend on domain-specific context.
