DICOMStrukturen refers to the organizational framework and file format used in Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). DICOM is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging. The DICOM structure defines how images and associated patient data are encoded into a unified file format.

At its core, a DICOM file is a structured dataset. It contains two primary components: a file meta information header and a DICOM dataset. The file meta information header provides essential details about the DICOM file itself, such as its transfer syntax and the specific DICOM version used.

The DICOM dataset is the main body of the file and is composed of a series of attributes. Each attribute consists of a tag, a data type, and a value. Tags are unique identifiers for different pieces of information, like patient name, date of birth, modality (e.g., CT, MRI), image pixel data, and acquisition parameters. The data type specifies the format of the value, and the value holds the actual information. This structured approach ensures that medical images and their metadata are consistently organized and interpretable across different systems and vendors.
