Comáis

Comáis is the second person plural present subjunctive form of the Spanish verb comer (to eat). It appears in subordinate clauses and in negative commands addressed to vosotros in Spain, and in contexts where the vosotros form is used. The present subjunctive is used to express desire, doubt, possibility, necessity, or unreality after expressions such as quiero que, es posible que, ojalá que. The conjugation for comer in present subjunctive is: yo coma, tú comas, él/ella coma, nosotros comamos, vosotros comáis, ellos coman. The form comáis is therefore used when the subject is 'vosotros' in a dependent clause or in a negative command: "No comáis eso" (Do not eat that). In positive commands, the imperative for vosotros is "comed" in Spain; in negative commands, "no comáis." In Latin America, vosotros is less common and comáis may be heard mainly in formal or educational contexts.

Examples: "Espero que comáis antes de salir" and "Quizá comáis demasiado si hay postre." Additional notes: "comáis"
