Comunicante

Comunicante is a term used in Spanish and Portuguese that functions as either an adjective meaning “that communicates” or, in some contexts, as a noun for a person who communicates. It derives from the verb comunicar and ultimately from Latin communicare, to share or transmit information.

In technical domains, comunicante describes a conduit, opening, or channel that links two spaces or systems. Common usages include conductos comunicantes or orificios comunicantes to denote connecting passages, and nervios comunicantes in neuroanatomy for nerves that relay signals between structures.

In linguistics and everyday speech, however, the noun form comunicante is uncommon for a person; more standard terms for such a person are comunicador or emisor in Spanish, or comunicador in Portuguese. When used as an adjective, it labels something that serves to communicate or connect, for example a “vía comunicante” or a “puente comunicante” bridging two areas.
