Cohipónimo is a term used in linguistics and semantics to describe words that share a common, more general superordinate term. Essentially, it refers to items that belong to the same category. For example, "dog," "cat," and "horse" are cohiponyms because they are all types of "animal." The relationship is hierarchical, with the more general term (the superordinate) encompassing the more specific terms (the hyponyms).
