Chaiya
Chaiya is a district in the Suratthani Province of Thailand. It is located on the western side of the province, along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. The district is known for its historical significance, particularly its role as a former administrative center and port. Chaiya was once the capital of the Siamese Kingdom of Ligor, a powerful city-state that influenced the region for centuries. This historical importance is reflected in the numerous ancient ruins and archaeological sites found within the district, the most notable being Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya, a magnificent ancient temple believed to date back to the Srivijaya Empire.
The economy of Chaiya is largely based on agriculture, with a significant focus on rubber plantations and
