Calamorro

Calamorro is a mountain located in the Sierra de Mijas in Andalusia, Spain. It stands at an elevation of 1,025 meters (3,363 feet) and is a prominent feature of the landscape visible from many surrounding towns, including Alhaurín de la Torre and Málaga. The mountain is known for its distinctive rocky summit, which has a unique appearance.

The area around Calamorro offers various natural attractions. It is part of a protected natural park and is popular for hiking and outdoor activities. The terrain is characterized by Mediterranean scrubland and rocky outcrops. Due to its elevation and location, Calamorro provides panoramic views of the Costa del Sol, the Mediterranean Sea, and on clear days, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

Access to the summit is possible via hiking trails, some of which are challenging. For those seeking a less strenuous ascent, a cable car, the Teleférico Benalmádena, operates from Benalmádena and transports visitors to a viewpoint near the summit. At the top, there are facilities and interpretation centers that explain the local flora, fauna, and geology, as well as the historical significance of the area. The mountain is also a recognized site for birdwatching, particularly for raptors.
