COMLEXCANADA

COMLEX-CANADA is a voluntary, national assessment and recognition program in Canada for medical school graduates. It is designed to assess a graduate's readiness for practice in Canada and provide employer visibility into their educational and professional background.

The COMLEX-CANADA assessment is created by the Canadian Collaborative in Medical Education (CCME), a group of 17 universities and academic health sciences centers working together to develop and implement a collaborative program of medical education. The assessment evaluates the knowledge, skills, and clinical competencies of medical school graduates, including communication, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving.

There are four levels of the COMLEX-CANADA assessment, each evaluating different aspects of a graduate's competency. The levels are:

* Level 1: Evaluates a graduate's ability to apply their medical knowledge and begin independently.

* Level 2: Transitions a graduate from abstract knowledge to practical application.

* Level 3: Assesses a graduate's ability to integrate and apply complex scientific knowledge, as well independent practice.

* Level 4: Evaluates a graduate's ability to practice medicine independently of direct supervision.

Employers can use the results of the COMLEX-CANADA assessment to gain a better understanding of an applicant's educational and professional background, including their knowledge, skills, and clinical competencies. The assessment helps ensure that medical school graduates have the necessary skills to provide safe, high-quality patient care. Participation in the assessment is voluntary, and graduates can choose to report the results to potential employers.
