CANverkot

CANverkot is a Dutch political party that was founded in 2019. The party's name is a portmanteau of "CAN" and "verkiezing" (election), reflecting its focus on the electoral system. CANverkot is a splinter group from the Party for the Animals (PvdD), which was founded in 2018. The party's primary goal is to reform the Dutch electoral system to make it more proportional and representative.

CANverkot advocates for a mixed-member proportional representation (MMP) system, which combines elements of both first-past-the-post and proportional representation. This system aims to address the perceived shortcomings of the current Dutch electoral system, which is based on a form of proportional representation called the d'Hondt method. The party argues that the current system often leads to disproportionate representation and can result in a lack of proportionality in the House of Representatives.

The party also supports the introduction of a proportional threshold, which would require parties to meet a certain percentage of the national vote to enter the House of Representatives.
