CAIR1
CAIR1, also known as C-type lectin domain family 1 member A, is a protein encoded by the CAIR1 gene. This gene is located on human chromosome 12. The protein it encodes is a type II transmembrane receptor. CAIR1 has been found to play a role in immune responses, particularly in the activation of natural killer (NK) cells. It is expressed on the surface of various immune cells. Research suggests that CAIR1 can interact with other molecules on target cells, influencing immune cell signaling pathways. The exact functions and downstream effects of CAIR1 are still areas of active investigation in the scientific community. Studies have explored its potential involvement in conditions such as autoimmune diseases and cancer, though definitive conclusions are pending further research. Understanding CAIR1's molecular interactions and its contribution to cellular processes is crucial for potentially developing new therapeutic strategies.
