Brielle

Brielle is a municipality and town in the western Netherlands, located in the province of South Holland on the island of Voorne-Putten near the North Sea coast. The town has a historical center that serves as a local hub for the surrounding countryside and nearby communities.

Brielle is historically notable for the capture by the Sea Beggars on 1 April 1572 during the Dutch Revolt. The fall of Brielle helped spur the revolt against Spanish rule and contributed to subsequent Dutch successes along the coast.

The town preserves elements of its past, including a compact historic center, remnants of fortifications, and a harbor that reflects its maritime heritage.
