Bowmannkapszulával is a term that refers to the Bowman's capsule, a cup-like structure in the kidney that surrounds the glomerulus. It is the initial, and the most crucial, part of the nephron, the functional unit of the kidney. The primary role of the Bowman's capsule is to collect the filtrate that is produced by the glomerulus during ultrafiltration.

The structure of the Bowman's capsule consists of two layers: the outer parietal layer, which is composed of simple squamous epithelium, and the inner visceral layer, which is made up of specialized cells called podocytes. These podocytes have foot processes that interdigitate, creating filtration slits that allow small molecules to pass from the glomerular capillaries into the capsular space. Between these two layers is the capsular space, where the filtered fluid, known as glomerular filtrate, accumulates.

During the process of kidney filtration, blood pressure forces water and small solutes, such as salts, glucose, amino acids, and urea, from the blood in the glomerulus into the Bowman's capsule. Larger molecules, like proteins and blood cells, are retained in the bloodstream due to their size. The collected filtrate then passes from the Bowman's capsule into the proximal convoluted tubule, where further reabsorption and secretion processes occur, ultimately leading to the formation of urine. The structural integrity and function of the Bowman's capsule are vital for maintaining proper kidney function and waste removal from the body.
