Borgarfjörður
Borgarfjörður is a fjord and traditional region in western Iceland. It forms a sheltered bay and surrounding valley system located inland from the country’s west coast, through which the Hvítá river flows toward the sea. The area is sparsely populated and is best known for its natural attractions and historic sites. The largest town is Borgarnes, situated on the eastern shore of the fjord; other settlements include Reykholt, the historic home of Snorri Sturluson, and Húsafell, a popular gateway to the interior.
