BleiIIchlorid
Blei(II)chlorid, also known as lead(II) chloride, has the chemical formula PbCl2. It is a white solid that is practically insoluble in water. In its pure form, it appears as a crystalline powder. Lead(II) chloride can be found naturally in the mineral cotunnite. It is formed when lead(II) ions react with chloride ions, such as in the reaction between lead(II) nitrate and sodium chloride. The solubility of lead(II) chloride in water increases with temperature. It is soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid and ammonium chloride solutions. Lead(II) chloride is an important intermediate in the production of other lead compounds. Historically, it was used in some pigments and as a component in certain types of glass. However, due to the toxicity of lead compounds, its uses have become more restricted. Exposure to lead(II) chloride can be harmful and requires appropriate safety precautions.
