BiO3

BiO3 refers to bismuth trioxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Bi2O3. It is the most industrially important compound of bismuth. Bi2O3 is a yellow powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in strong acids. It exists in several polymorphic forms, with the stable form at room temperature being monoclinic.

Bismuth trioxide is primarily produced through the oxidation of metallic bismuth or by precipitation from bismuth salt solutions. It finds widespread application in various industries. It is used as a precursor for the synthesis of other bismuth compounds, including pigments and pharmaceuticals. In the electronics industry, it is employed in the manufacturing of varistors and capacitors due to its semiconductor properties. Bi2O3 also serves as a fluxing agent in glass and ceramic production, lowering melting points and improving workability. Furthermore, it is utilized as a catalyst in certain chemical reactions and as a component in some specialized coatings.
