Beilstein

Beilstein is a municipality in the district of Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It lies on the Moselle River and is part of the Moselle wine region. The town's landmark is Burg Beilstein, a medieval castle ruin perched on a steep cliff above the town, dating from the 12th or 13th century. Beilstein attracts visitors for its scenic landscape, historic architecture, cobblestone streets, and wine culture.

Beilstein also refers to the Beilstein Institute for the Advancement of Chemical Sciences, a German nonprofit foundation dedicated to supporting chemical research and science communication. Historically, Beilstein is associated with Beilstein's Handbook of Organic Chemistry, a comprehensive bibliographic resource founded in the 19th century by Friedrich Konrad Beilstein. The handbook evolved into the Beilstein database, one of the major reference resources for organic chemistry literature, and it has since been maintained in digital form and incorporated into modern commercial information systems. The Beilstein Institute also publishes the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, an open-access peer-reviewed journal that covers all aspects of organic chemistry.
