Basivalutas refers to the base currency in a currency pair or the primary unit used to express value in foreign exchange and international finance. In a currency pair, the basivaluta is the first currency listed. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, EUR is the basivaluta and USD is the quote currency. The price shows how many units of the quote currency are needed to purchase one unit of the basivaluta.
