Aussageswertigkeit
Aussageswertigkeit is a concept within logic and linguistics that refers to the truth value of a declarative sentence or proposition. A declarative sentence is one that asserts a statement, and Aussageswertigkeit is concerned with whether that statement is true or false. For a sentence to have Aussageswertigkeit, it must be capable of being assigned a truth value. This means it cannot be a question, a command, or an exclamation. The principle of bivalence, a fundamental tenet in classical logic, posits that every declarative sentence is either true or false, and not both or neither. However, there are philosophical debates and alternative logical systems that challenge strict bivalence, introducing concepts like fuzzy logic or three-valued logic where propositions might have intermediate truth values or be indeterminate. In essence, Aussageswertigkeit is the property of a statement that allows us to evaluate its truthfulness.
