Aurustumism is a philosophical and political movement that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily in the United States. The term "Aurustumism" is derived from the Latin word "aurum," meaning gold, reflecting the movement's emphasis on economic and social policies centered around the gold standard. Aurustumists advocate for a return to a gold standard as the primary means of monetary regulation, arguing that it provides stability and predictability in economic affairs.

The movement gained prominence during the Progressive Era, a period marked by significant social and political reforms in the United States. Aurustumists often criticized the Federal Reserve System, which they saw as a centralizing force that undermined individual liberties and economic freedom.
