Atsetüülirühm

Atsetüülirühm, keemiline valem CH3CO-, on orgaanilises keemias väga levinud funktsionaalne rühm. See koosneb metüülrühmast (CH3-), mis on seotud karbonüülrühmaga (C=O). Atsetüülrühm on paljude oluliste molekulide, sealhulgas atseetanhüdriidi, atsetüülkloriidi ja atsetüülamiini ehitusplokk. Seda leidub ka looduslikes ühendites nagu atsetüülkoensüüm A (atsetüül-CoA), mis mängib keskset rolli ainevahetuses, eriti rasvhapete ja süsivesikute lagundamisel ning sidrunhappetsüklis.

Keemilistes reaktsioonides on atsetüülrühm tavaliselt elektroneemaldav due to the electron-withdrawing nature of the carbonyl group. This makes the alpha-hydrogens (hydrogens on the methyl group) slightly acidic and susceptible to deprotonation, leading to reactions like aldol condensations. Furthermore, the carbonyl carbon is electrophilic and can be attacked by nucleophiles. Acetyl groups can be introduced into other molecules through acylation reactions, often using acetylating agents like acetic anhydride or acetyl chloride. These reactions are fundamental in organic synthesis, for example, in the preparation of esters and amides. The presence of an acetyl group can significantly alter the physical and chemical properties of a molecule, influencing its solubility, reactivity, and biological activity.
