Atmosferei is a neologism used in speculative meteorology and worldbuilding to describe an atmosphere that exhibits pronounced vertical stratification and a complex interplay of optical and climatic processes across multiple layers. It is not a standardized term in scientific meteorology; its meaning and scope vary by author, work, or project. In many contexts, atmosferei denotes environments where layered hazes, aerosols, and temperature inversions shape weather, climate stability, and sky appearance in distinctive ways.

Characteristically, atmosferei implies several interacting strata. A lower convective layer may host clouds and strong mixing; an overlying aerosol or photochemical layer can modify radiative balance and albedo; and an upper region may contain sparse air with unique chemical composition or ionization. The net effect is a planetary atmosphere whose optical depth, wind structure, and thermal profile differ from standard models, producing unusual twilight colors, hazy sunsets, or persistent weather regimes.
