Astronomija

Astronomija is the scientific study of celestial objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole. It seeks to understand the origins, evolution, and ultimate fate of the cosmos. Astronomers observe and analyze phenomena such as stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae, and black holes using a variety of instruments, primarily telescopes. These observations provide data that is then interpreted through the laws of physics and mathematics.

The field encompasses several sub-disciplines. Astrofizika, for example, applies the principles of physics to understand celestial bodies and their properties, including their composition, temperature, and energy output. Kozmologija focuses on the study of the universe on the largest scales, investigating its structure, origin, and evolution, including theories like the Big Bang. Planetologija is dedicated to the study of planets, both within our solar system and exoplanets orbiting other stars. Zvezdna astronomija examines stars, their life cycles, and how they form and evolve.

Historically, astronomy has a long and rich past, with early civilizations observing the night sky for navigation and calendrical purposes. Modern astronomy relies heavily on advanced technology, including ground-based and space-based observatories that capture electromagnetic radiation across the spectrum, from radio waves to gamma rays. The development of new observational techniques and theoretical models continues to expand our understanding of the universe.
