Amebocytien is a term that refers to cells exhibiting ameboid movement. This type of locomotion is characterized by the cell extending pseudopods, which are temporary protrusions of the cytoplasm, allowing the cell to crawl or glide along surfaces. This movement is a fundamental process observed in various cell types, particularly in certain types of leukocytes (white blood cells) in the immune system.

In the context of immunology, ameboid movement is crucial for phagocytosis. Cells like macrophages and neutrophils utilize pseudopods to engulf and digest foreign particles, pathogens, and cellular debris.
