It emphasizes the importance of local production and consumption, often with the aim of strengthening the local economy, reducing environmental impact, and fostering community connection.

The concept of aluelähtöisyys can manifest in various ways. In other sectors, it could mean choosing local artisans, service providers, or manufacturers.
