Allergimärkning

Allergimärkning, also known as allergisk information or allerginformation, is a system used to inform consumers about the presence of allergens in food products. The aim of allergimärkning is to protect individuals with food allergies by providing them with relevant information about potential allergens that may be present in a product.

In Sweden, a country with a strong focus on allergimärkning, the government has established a legislation that requires food manufacturers to label products with information about common allergens. This includes eight common allergens such as peanuts, gluten, milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, soy, and sulfites.

The Swedish Allergiähnlig centre recommends that food manufacturers include allergimärkning on food labels in a clear and concise manner. This can be done using text, symbols, or a combination of both. For example, a product that contains peanuts may have a label that reads "Contains peanuts" or a symbol of a peanut with a red "X" through it.

Consumers with food allergies can benefit greatly from allergimärkning as they are able to make informed choices about the products they purchase. As a result, the labeling of allergens has become a key aspect of food safety and consumer protection in Sweden and other countries.

Regulatory bodies, companies, and consumers are working together to establish global standards for allergimärkning to provide consistency and clear information about allergens. As the demand for better labeling continues to grow, it is expected that the practice of allergimärkning will become more prevalent in the food industry.
