AlQamar

Al-Qamar is the Arabic term meaning "the Moon," used to denote Earth's natural satellite. In Arabic-language usage, it also appears in cultural, religious, and scientific contexts as a symbol and as a proper name for various entities.

In astronomy, the Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It orbits Earth in about 27.3 days (sidereal) and about 29.5 days (synodic), is tidally locked so the same hemisphere faces Earth, and has a diameter of around 3,474 kilometers. Its proximity drives tides and has influenced human calendars, navigation, and culture across civilizations.

Al-Qamar is also the name of the 54th chapter of the Qur'an, The Moon. This Meccan surah contains 55 verses and is named for the verse that describes the moon as a sign from God. It discusses the reality of the Hour, the signs of divine power, and warns those who reject the message while inviting repentance.

In modern usage, Al-Qamar appears as a proper name in various Arabic-speaking communities for places, organizations, or media.
