For instance, in the sentence "Luimme kirjaa" (We were reading a book), the partitive ending -a signifies that the reading was not necessarily completed. Similarly, the accusative case can sometimes act as an affiksipääte when it denotes definiteness or completion, as in "Luimme kirjan" (We read the book).
