Therefore, AbsenderVerfrachter essentially refers to the entity that acts as both the sender of the goods and the charterer or carrier responsible for their transportation.

In practice, this designation can arise in several scenarios. One common situation is when a company manufactures its own goods and also owns or leases vessels to transport them. In this case, the company is simultaneously the Absender (shipper of its own goods) and the Verfrachter (carrier of those goods). Another possibility is when a trading company purchases goods and then charters a vessel to ship them to a buyer. While the trading company is the Absender from the buyer's perspective, they may also be the Verfrachter if they are directly chartering the ship.
