Abdul Muttalib, also spelled Abdul Mutalib, fully Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim, was a prominent leader of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca during the late 5th and early 6th centuries CE. He belonged to the Banu Hashim clan and served as the head of his family, a position that carried influence over trade and local affairs in Mecca. He is best known in Islamic tradition as the grandfather of Prophet Muhammad.
