ABCB3

ABCB3, also known as ABC transporter B3 or PABA-binding protein, is a protein encoded by the ABCB3 gene in humans. This gene is part of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) superfamily of transporters, which are involved in the movement of various molecules across cell membranes. ABCB3 specifically is a member of the B subfamily of ABC transporters.

The ABCB3 protein is characterized by its ability to bind para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and is thought to be involved in the transport of PABA and potentially other related compounds. While its precise physiological functions are still under investigation, research suggests it may play a role in folate metabolism, as PABA is a precursor to folic acid.
