AAD2
AAD2, also known as Acquired Amegakaryocytic Thrombocytopenia 2, is a rare hematological disorder characterized by a deficiency of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. Megakaryocytes are the cells responsible for producing platelets, which are essential for blood clotting. The absence or severe reduction of these cells leads to a significant decrease in platelet count, a condition known as thrombocytopenia. This can result in easy bruising, prolonged bleeding, and in severe cases, life-threatening hemorrhages.
The exact cause of AAD2 is not fully understood, but it is believed to be an autoimmune
Treatment for AAD2 focuses on managing the low platelet count and, if possible, addressing the underlying autoimmune
