31283
31283 is a minor planet in the asteroid belt, located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered on September 14, 1998, by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) project at the Lincoln Laboratory's Experimental Test Site near Socorro, New Mexico. The asteroid is approximately 5 kilometers in diameter and has an orbital period of about 4.5 years. Its orbit is moderately eccentric and inclined, with an average distance from the Sun of about 2.7 astronomical units (AU). The asteroid's spectral type is classified as X, indicating a primitive composition, likely rich in carbonaceous materials. 31283 is not considered a near-Earth object, as its orbit does not bring it close to Earth's path. The asteroid's name, (31283) 1998 RZ67, is derived from its provisional designation, which includes the year of discovery and a sequential number assigned by the Minor Planet Center.
