ülemuslikud

Ülemuslikud, also known as the Ülemuslikud Order, were a medieval Livonian order that emerged in the 13th century. They were a branch of the Livonian Brothers of the Sword, a military order founded by Albert of Riga in 1202. The Ülemuslikud Order was established in 1237 and was based in Ülemiste, a region in present-day Estonia. The order was known for its military prowess and played a significant role in the Christianization of the Livonian people.

The Ülemuslikud Order was involved in numerous military campaigns against the pagan Livonian tribes, including the Estonians, Latgalians, and Selonians. They also participated in the Livonian Crusade, a series of military campaigns aimed at converting the pagan Baltic tribes to Christianity. The order's military strength was bolstered by the use of heavy cavalry, which was effective against the lightly armored pagan warriors.

The Ülemuslikud Order was dissolved in 1346, following the Livonian Brothers of the Sword's defeat at the Battle of Turaida. The order's lands were subsequently incorporated into the Teutonic Order's Livonian Order. The Ülemuslikud Order's legacy can still be seen in the region, with many place names and historical sites bearing their name.
