Összeszámlálhatóságát translates to countability in English and is a fundamental concept in set theory. It refers to the property of a set whose elements can be put into a one-to-one correspondence with a subset of the natural numbers. Sets that possess this property are called countable sets.

There are two main types of countable sets. A set is countably infinite if its elements can be put into a one-to-one correspondence with the entire set of natural numbers (1, 2, 3, ...). This means that even though the set has infinitely many elements, its elements can be listed in an infinite sequence. Examples include the set of all integers and the set of all rational numbers.

A set is finite if it has a specific, limited number of elements, or if it is empty. Finite sets are also considered countable because their elements can be put into a one-to-one correspondence with a *subset* of the natural numbers, specifically a finite initial segment of the natural numbers.

The concept of countability helps distinguish between different sizes of infinite sets. Sets that are not countable are called uncountable. The set of real numbers, for instance, is uncountable, meaning there are "more" real numbers than natural numbers, and they cannot be put into a one-to-one correspondence with the natural numbers. This distinction was a significant development in mathematics, notably by Georg Cantor.
