Zbrajanje is a fundamental arithmetic operation that involves combining two or more numbers, called addends, to produce a single number, known as the sum. The concept of zbrajanje can be understood as counting a collection of objects and then counting another collection, and finally determining the total number of objects when both collections are combined. For instance, if you have three apples and you add two more apples, zbrajanje tells you that you now have a total of five apples.

Zbrajanje is commutative, meaning the order of the addends does not affect the sum (e.g., 3 + 2 = 2 + 3). It is also associative, meaning when adding more than two numbers, the grouping of the numbers does not change the sum (e.g., (3 + 2) + 1 = 3 + (2 + 1)). The identity element for addition is zero, meaning that adding zero to any number does not change the number (e.g., 5 + 0 = 5).
