Yleismaadoitus, also known as protective earthing or general earthing, is a fundamental safety concept in electrical systems. It refers to the intentional connection of exposed conductive parts of electrical equipment to the earth. The primary purpose of yleismaadoitus is to prevent electric shock by ensuring that if a fault occurs, such as a live wire touching the metal casing of an appliance, the electricity flows safely to the ground instead of through a person who might touch the casing.
