Yhtäläisyysluokat, or equivalence classes in English, are a fundamental concept in abstract algebra and set theory. When a set is partitioned into disjoint subsets, each of these subsets is called an equivalence class. This partitioning is defined by an equivalence relation.

The equivalence classes are the set of integers divisible by 3 (remainder 0), the set of integers with remainder 1 when divided by 3, and the set of integers with remainder 2 when divided by 3. These three sets form a partition of the integers, and each set is an equivalence class.
