vedeliktermomeeter
Vedeliktermomeeter is a type of thermometer that uses the thermal expansion of a liquid to measure temperature. The most common type utilizes a glass tube with a bulb at one end, filled with a colored liquid, typically alcohol or mercury. As the temperature increases, the liquid inside the bulb expands and rises up the narrow tube. The height of the liquid column corresponds to a specific temperature, indicated by markings along the side of the tube.
The liquid expands because its molecules gain kinetic energy and move further apart with increasing temperature.
