tõmbekäivitust
Tõmbekäivitust is an Estonian term that translates to "pull start" or "recoil start" in English. It refers to a common method used to start internal combustion engines, particularly in smaller machinery like lawnmowers, chainsaws, and outboard motors. The system utilizes a spring-loaded spool and a cord. When the cord is pulled, it rotates the spool, which in turn engages a mechanism (often a one-way clutch or ratchet) connected to the engine's crankshaft. This engagement spins the crankshaft, initiating the engine's combustion cycle. As the engine starts and begins to rotate under its own power, the engagement mechanism disengages, allowing the cord and spool to retract automatically, ready for the next start. The spring within the recoil starter assembly is responsible for rewinding the cord smoothly and efficiently. This method offers a simple and accessible way to start engines without requiring external power sources or complex electrical starting systems.
