Tilasiirtymällä is a Finnish term that translates to "phase transition" or "state change" in English. It refers to a physical process where a substance changes from one state of matter to another. The most common examples include the transitions between solid, liquid, and gas phases. For instance, when ice (solid water) melts into liquid water, it undergoes a tilasiirtymällä. Similarly, when liquid water boils and turns into steam (gaseous water), that is also a tilasiirtymällä.

These transitions occur at specific temperatures and pressures.
