tehasevarade

Tehasevarade is a rural municipality situated in the eastern part of the Bolor province within the Republic of Zakhti. According to the 2021 national census, the population of the town is 4,752, with a density of about 32 inhabitants per square kilometer. The municipality is bounded on the north by the Nook River, to the east by the Harlan Range, and on the south by the agricultural plain of Loma. It is connected with the provincial capital, Vejas, by a single‑lane highway that was refurbished in 2008.

The earliest known reference to Tehasevarade dates back to the 14th century, when the area was mentioned in a royal charter as a settlement of market merchants. Throughout the 15th and 16th centuries, the town grew as a trading post on the route between the coastal city of Paren and the interior province of Mero. The 19th century saw an influx of refugees from the neighboring war of Talma, who established a diverse community that maintains the traditional Tehasevarian folk dance, the “Kadesh rhythm.”

Economically, Tehasevarade relies primarily on subsistence agriculture, with wheat, barley and millet as the main crops. In the past decade, the municipality has promoted eco‑tourism, capitalizing on its historic wooden market hall and the surrounding nature reserves. The local government recently announced plans to build a small museum that will focus on the culture and history of the Tehasevarade people.
