Tarkidae refers to a group of long-snouted terrestrial casuariiform birds in the family Rheidae. They are primarily found in South America, and their name is derived from the Tarka, a Chinese mythical dragon-like creature.

The tarki is one genus in the rheid family, composed of two or three contemporary species found in southern South America. The tarkidas have open-webbed feet, which are quite distinctive compared to the crutch-like feet of ostriches and emus.
