Stereoaktivitását is a Hungarian term that translates to "stereoisomerism" or "stereochemistry" in English. It refers to the branch of chemistry concerned with the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms and molecules and the effect of this arrangement on chemical reactions. In essence, it deals with the spatial properties of molecules.

Stereoisomers are molecules that have the same molecular formula and the same connectivity of atoms but differ in the three-dimensional orientation of their atoms in space. This difference in spatial arrangement can lead to significant differences in physical properties, such as melting point and solubility, and more importantly, biological activity. For example, enantiomers, which are a type of stereoisomer that are mirror images of each other, can have drastically different effects on biological systems. One enantiomer might be a potent drug, while its mirror image could be inactive or even toxic.

Chirality is a key concept in stereochemistry. A molecule is chiral if it is not superimposable on its mirror image, much like a left hand and a right hand.
