Sulfurados is a term used in several languages to refer to substances that contain sulfur as part of their chemical composition. In English, the word sulfurated is uncommon, and technical writers usually describe the relevant species with terms such as sulfide, sulfate, sulfonate, or by the process name sulfurization. The scope of the concept includes inorganic minerals as well as organic compounds in which sulfur has been introduced or present in the molecule.

In inorganic chemistry and mineralogy, sulfur-containing species include sulfides (where sulfur has a low oxidation state, exemplified by FeS and ZnS) and sulfates (SO4^2−, e.g., CaSO4). Minerals such as pyrite (FeS2) and galena (PbS) are sulfide minerals, whereas gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) is a sulfate mineral. Native sulfur (S8) also occurs in deposits. Sulfur compounds are common in hydrothermal, sedimentary, and volcanic environments.

In organic chemistry, sulfurado or sulfurated substances refer to compounds bearing sulfur-containing groups, such as thiols (R–SH), thioethers (R–S–R'), thioesters (R–CO–S–R), and sulfonates (R–SO3H). The process of sulfurization (or sulfuration) describes the introduction of sulfur into a molecule, using reagents such as elemental sulfur, thiols, or phosphorus sulfides.

Applications of sulfur-containing compounds are widespread, including desulfurization of fuels, vulcanization of rubber, and the roles of amino acids like cysteine and methionine in biology.
