Suikernucleotiden, also known as sugar nucleotides, are a class of nucleotide-containing compounds in which the nucleotide is attached to a sugar moiety. These molecules play crucial roles in various biological processes, primarily as activated precursors for the synthesis of complex carbohydrates. In essence, they are sugar molecules that have been "activated" by being linked to a nucleotide, making them more reactive and readily incorporated into growing carbohydrate chains.
