rörelsesystemets
Rörelsesystemet, also known as the musculoskeletal system, is the biological system that provides living beings with the ability to move. It is composed of several interconnected components, primarily the skeleton, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and joints. The skeleton, made of bones, provides structural support, protection for internal organs, and serves as an anchor for muscles. Muscles, through their ability to contract and relax, generate the force needed for movement. Cartilage acts as a smooth, protective covering for the ends of bones in joints, reducing friction and absorbing shock. Tendons are tough, fibrous tissues that connect muscles to bones, transmitting the force generated by muscle contractions. Ligaments are similar fibrous tissues that connect bones to other bones, providing stability to joints. Joints are the points where two or more bones meet, allowing for varying degrees of movement. The coordinated action of these components, controlled by the nervous system, enables a wide range of physical activities, from simple gestures to complex athletic maneuvers.
