Redactional is an adjective describing matters pertaining to redaction—the editing, arrangement, and commentary of a text by its editor or redactor. The term stems from redaction, the act of preparing a text for publication, and it is used in both constructive (editorial) and censoring (redaction) senses.

In literary and biblical studies, redactional analysis examines how a text was shaped by its editor: what material was retained, what was omitted, how sources were harmonized, and where the editor inserted comments or clarifications.

In biblical studies, redactional criticism compares the final form to its sources, identifying redactional motifs, textual order, and inserted sayings to infer the editor's aims and audience.

Beyond scholarship, redactional can describe any process of redacting content, including summarizing, annotating, or removing sensitive material from a document.
