Prórroga (plural prorrogas) refers to the act of extending the duration of a term, deadline, or obligation beyond what was initially set. The term comes from prorrogar, meaning to prolong or defer. In legal and administrative contexts, prorrogas are used to ensure continuity when original conditions cannot be met on time.

Prorrogas are common in contracts and leases, but also in procurement processes, permits, and judicial or administrative deadlines. They can be requested by one party or agreed upon by all involved, and may be enacted through a contractual clause, a separate agreement, or a regulatory provision.
