Polarimuoto is a Finnish term that translates to "polar form" in English, referring to a method of representing complex numbers. A complex number is typically expressed in rectangular form as a + bi, where 'a' is the real part and 'b' is the imaginary part. The polar form, however, describes the same complex number using its distance from the origin in the complex plane and the angle it makes with the positive real axis.

The polar form of a complex number z is written as r(cos θ + i sin θ) or, more compactly, as r cis θ or r∠θ. Here, 'r' represents the magnitude or modulus of the complex number, which is calculated as the square root of the sum of the squares of the real and imaginary parts: r = √(a² + b²).
